Glow Juice: Carrot, Citrus, Apple, and Ginger Skin Boosting Drink

JUMP TO RECIPE

I love starting my day with a juice and some water with lemon. My go-to juice is usually a mix of celery, cucumber, apple, and lemon — it’s light, hydrating, and gives me that fresh start I need. Twice a week, I like to switch it up with my “glow juice,” because it makes my skin feel radiant and gives me an extra boost of nutrients. It’s my little self-care ritual a reminder to slow down, nourish my body, and set a positive tone for the rest of the day.

Carrots: The Skin Loving Superstar

Carrots are loaded with beta-carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A — an essential nutrient for healthy skin, eyes, and immune function. Vitamin A helps repair skin tissue, reduce inflammation, and protect against oxidative stress.

Plus, the antioxidants in carrots help fight free radicals that can cause premature aging, keeping your skin looking bright and youthful

Masticating Cold Press Juicers

I bought my Breville juicer before I knew what a masticating juicer even was and if I had to go back to repurchase a juicer I would buy a cold press masticating slow juicer because it preserves more nutrients, yields more juice from both hard and soft produce, handles leafy greens effortlessly, and produces juice with less foam and oxidation. It’s a bit slower, but the health benefits and quality of juice make it totally worth it.

Citrus (Orange + Lemon): Vitamin C for the Win

Citrus fruits bring a burst of vitamin C, one of the most important nutrients for collagen production — that’s what keeps your skin firm and glowing. Vitamin C also helps boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and neutralize toxins.

Lemon adds a refreshing tang and helps support digestion and detoxification, making it the perfect morning kickstart. Together, orange and lemon create a deliciously light balance of sweetness and tartness.

Should You Peel The Carrots?

You don’t have to peel carrots before juicing especially if they’re organic and thoroughly washed because most of the nutrients are in the skin and just beneath it. However, there are a few considerations:

When You Can Skip Peeling

  • Organic carrots: Minimal pesticide residue; just wash well and scrub.

  • Smooth, fresh carrots: No noticeable blemishes or dirt.

  • Juicing for nutrition: The skin contains fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants.

When Peeling Might Be Better

  • Non-organic carrots: Peeling reduces potential pesticide residues.

  • Dirty or blemished carrots: Scrubbing may not remove all dirt or imperfections.

  • Taste preference: Sometimes the skin can add a slightly earthy or bitter flavor.

Tip

Even if you don’t peel, always scrub carrots under running water with a brush. This removes dirt and helps make your juice clean and safe.

For a smooth, sweet “glow juice” with carrot, apple, lemon, and ginger — unpeeled, well-washed carrots work perfectly.
